Motion activated LEDs

Post by nurturer »

Anyone know where to pick up motion activated LEDs. They would be for a Blade Runner blaster prop. When I pick up the prop, the LED would turn on. Or, that's the plan.

The LEDs themselves can't be motion activated. You must incorporate another circuit that would activate the LEDs by either by movement by shock (picking it up) or by pressure (a squeeze of the trigger). The circuit would have to have a programmed persistence, (shut off timer) on how long the LEDs would be illuminated after the required shock or pressure ends.

Thanks. Any idea who might do these?

You're essentially talking about a custom build.

Couldn't you do this with a hidden switch? The switch would contact the display base, and be held in the depressed position by the weight of the gun; when you picked up the blaster the switch would be released and turn on the lights. I think you could do it with a microswitch or perhaps one of these: https://www.amazon.com/PushButton-Switc ... B0178IA632

A lot simpler than a motion-activated circuit.

What if you utilize capact5iive touch rather than motion sensing (i.e. accelerometer)?

(you can watch video on page to get a general idea of what this thing does)

I agree with Naoto on the capacitive switch. However, it might still be technically a custom build.
If you do not want to have 5 inputs, this might be a better option:

Still, it would work well assuming the Blaster's grip has metal in it otherwise you would spend countless hours trying to calibrate sensitivity through the resin grips. Then you can use the output of the module to a transistor to drive the four red 3mm LEDS.
What can I take apart today?
