Old HAL 9000 from Wilcox! models

Post by Craig »

Hi all,

I was going to pick up the Moebius HAL 9000 kit when I remembered that I already have a 1:1 KIT.

After 15 years, I finally finished painting the old resin HAL 9000 kit from Wilcox! models.

The body is one solid piece of resin, and comes with a clear acrylic lens and a metal plate with "HAL 9000".

Supposed to be 1:1 scale.

Anyways, I'd like to put a red LED in there. It's solid but there is a hole drilled for a light.

I'm thinking of an led, a switch and a battery connector. Can anyone a place to buy this or another simple solution? I tried cutting apart one of my wife's little tea candle thingy and made a mess.

Yes, I may pick up the Moebius kit for fun.

... and of course, why settle with just a glowing LED for the camara-eye? With a single-board computer such as Raspberry Pi you could make your HAL more functional. Hrm... can you imagine a HAL-9000 with the personality of Lenny?
