Illuminating very, very, small Ghost from Shapeways

I've been collecting a fleet of 1/2256 Star Wars ships, and my most recent acquisition is an insanely small Ghost. I had no intention of illuminating the mini, but since it was printed in a fairly transparent medium I thought it might be worth a shot. I tried running a single fiber optic strand through a small brass tube, but it doesn't seem to work.

I'd really welcome any suggestions. Try to find a tiny LED? A special light/fiber configuration?

Along with the Ghost, from Shapeways, I also have a hollow MC-30 (via Nicholas Sagan) that will get a much easier treatment. Was hoping I could do both at the same time. TIA.

Is the entire ship illuminated?

Fiber optics can illuminate but the light is very small and directional. It works best with windows and such

An SMD LED might work but the light is also very directional. You will have to wire it to a battery, a 1.5 button cell should be fine and would eliminate the need of a limiting resistor.

I don't know the type of clip that would hold this kind of battery and the wiring for this kind of LED requires good soldering skill and the right tools.

I once had a micro machines Defiant from DS9 that a friend wanted to be parked at his fiber optic DS9 station. I made a cast and molded it in clear, and put an LED at the "docking" port. The idea was to Paint the defiant scrape off the parts that were to glow, and leave the part that "plugs" into the station clear so the LED would light it up.

The smallest LED's I have found were on HDA Modelworx.

Thanks, all, very much for the advice! I'll take a look and see what might work.

My 1/2256 fleet might be a pipe dream, but I'm gonna try to start small (Ghost), move up a bit (MC-30, thank you Nicholas Sagan), then go crazy (Anigrand ISD).
