Hahahaha!
Dave Lentell
Waukee, Iowa
Dave left out the interior and replaced the windshield of a Fine Molds 1/72 scale TIE fighter with a Thomas the Tank Engine face from an HO scale Bachmann train. He painted "Thomas the TIE Fighter" with Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics and weathered it with artist graphite powder. “After the Rebel Alliance accidentally destroyed the Island of Sodor, Thomas became very cross with the Rebellion,” Dave says. “This is his story.”

Congrats to all that got in.

Alas, again, not one of .JPG's kits made it. C'mon people, pick up the pace! LOL

Wow! Thanks for posting.

Somehow I missed seeing quite a few of them at this year's W-Fest show. :( :x

Tony, you spent too much time looking through the viewfinder of your camera, and not enough aiming your Mark I eyeballs directly at the models! :P

But seriously, I appreciate the work you and everyone else do taking good photos at WF!

You mean before or after that hoard of a crowd wasn't in the contest room???
(Maybe I needed an extra-special lens on my camera, enabling me to shoot directly through
all of those folks who were crowded around the tables, for much of Saturday)?

Actually, I wasn't able to get into the contest room on Saturday evening, directly after they did the judging, and
I think that by Sunday, when I was able to reenter the room many of the entries which I missed were gone.

Wow, was that contest room crowded! Both with bodies and models! WF seems to be outgrowing the Crowne Plaza.

I didn't notice that any entries were gone on Sunday. Any particular ones?

I;m not sure, but I think partly what's taking place is a rebound of the 2-year shutdown of the show, due to Covid.
It'll be interesting to see if the next couple of years continue to see an upsurge in the attendance and model contest
entry count, of if the numbers return back closer to the pre-Covid times???

With respect to the items I missed, which Fine Scale Modelers captured, they were Gamora, the Wraithknight,
along with Jean Gray. They definitely weren't there for me, when I both took pictures of the entries (on both
Saturday and Sunday), along with video-taping the entries (on Sunday afternoon, leading up to the room's
closure). With my affinity towards all comic book figures (big and small), I would have made a point of capturing
both Gamora, along with Jean.
Oh well, it is what it is. At least I've gotten a chance to check them out with FSM's postings.

This was the third WF since it was cancelled in 2020, and it's been growing each year. Covid has definitely improved hobby sales, 'cause people needed something to do during all that downtime, and they rediscovered the fun they had when they were young (plus you have young people discovering it for the first time).

Seems like very few people took their entries away early, and you have a good handle on what's missing from your photos. For completeness' sake, you could tack on a link to FSM's photos of the ones you missed.

I stand corrected, with respect to the number of shows after Covid. For some reason I thought they missed two, but it was actually only one, (the 2020 show).

I attended them all, including both the 2021and 2022 shows, previously.

Wrt my missing pics, no worries. With my coverage of probably over 1,000 of them in my report, I'm good.
....Speaking of, I've just finished editing the pictures, and have started adding them to associated webpages.
I (really) hope to have the second part of my show report completed and posted within this week.
