As model builders, would you accept parts that were made of plaster or clay as aftermarket parts?
It's just that I've seen resin plaster - which is a heckofalot cheaper than regualr resin. Some resin afterparts have had a finish like plaster - WARP models spring to mind.

Plaster is brittle. The GRP resin WARP uses is brittle. I've got some dental resin parts from Pig Iron Productions, which seems OK.
I would have serious reservations trying to form plaster into detail molds, and expecting the fine detail not to chip away.
Metal is better than plaster for fine detail.
From my purchases, it's the silicone mold rubber which drives the cost of items, not the polyurethane resin.
