Will this work with casting resin: inserting a brass or stainless steal rod into the cast while its still liquid for strenght. For that matter, doing that and then pressurizing it.
I've done that with plaster casts countless times, sans pressurizing, and wiht great success. Its a proven method going back ages, far as plaster goes.
Will it work with resin or will it screw it up in some way?
I ask because i'm a durability nut.
Thanks very much.

Yes, it will work.
I have suspended a magnet and metal plate inside resin castings before.
As long as you can support it, or suspend it in the mold, and keep it in place, then it will work nicely
Heck, if the mold is desgned properly, you can suspend a "core" in the mold, and remove it from the casting after the resin is hardened. That way you can create, say, hollow tubes. Like if you wanted to cast water pumps.
For propeller shafts, I notch the rod so that it can not rotate or spin itself loose.

Here's how I did mine. You have to cut a notch in each side of the mold that the object can rest on so it's not touching the surface of the mold so the resin can flow around it.
Here's how I did it with my pylon's, there's hollow brass channel in each pylon to run wiring, and two brass rods embedded inside for connection purposes.

wow. just wow. Water pump?! That is inspiring.
I was thinking of putting a metal rod into a cast so that the peice would be strong enough to "play with" to some degree because at heart i havnt matured past 11 or so (yay). THe potential fragility of resin things has always made me worried. Especially with figure casts.
