I've seen people produce "stripes" in casts before by pouring in a little bit of one color resin, letting it cure, then pouring in a bit of another color on top, and on and on. The layers stick to eachother quite well.
So I was wondering could resin be used as an adhesive for resin? Would it work better than CA glue? Conceptually it makes sense. What about in practice?

If your mating surfaces are scratched up a bit, and ABSOLUTELY FREE of mold release, and
If you are using the same resin that you're trying to bond, and
If the resin doesn't shrink or heat up much on setting up, and
If you can hold the parts in place without moving until the 'gluing' resin sets,
I think it should work quite well, fusing the parts and making them as strong as if they were one original piece. Of course, quick setting resin might be best for this.
But I'd like to hear from other experience casters on this subject myself.

I don't know if I would use it as an adhesive. CA is much easier in my opinion. However....I have used Alumilite 3min resin to fill pin holes in models. I just mix a few drops of both parts. Then use a brush to paint the resin over the pin holes. I put the parts in my pressure pot after that to force the resin into the pinholes and after a few minites I can wet sand over the repaired area. No more pin holes.
