how would I make a good scrape look as well as weather look on my models?

And unless you're building a crashed and burned Ent, the weathering is damned subtle.

I would pull down as many files of the net. Try to get as many of the original ship as possible.

Grab these while they are still there:

Save them for reference.

I have collected a whole library of images for Star Wars and Trek. You can never have too much reference material.
