Aves apoxie paste part A dried out?

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Aves apoxie paste part A dried out?

Post by Locke_333 »

Hi all, i've gota small question about the Aves apoxie paste. I've been in the process of moving and finalizing our new home for the last 2 months now and today, i finally put the time back to modelling. i was in need of some filler for my current work so i took out my Aves apoxie paste and when i opened the bottle containing part A, suprise suprise the thing is almost dried out.... while part B is still in it's "liquid" form. Is there any way of reviving this?

Let's see what everyone thinks of this. I think each part is water-based like the regular putty is.

What does the council think of adding some tap water to Part "A" and mixing it in? Or, what about adding denatured alcohol?

You are not the first. Although my part A has been around longer than two months, it is starting to dry out. I was at first alarmed at the fact that my Aves, blessed of all modeling fillers may be going bad I had to try something.
I wet my hands, mixed the two parts together and all was right with the world.
I haven't mixed water in the tub with the rest, only on an as needed basis and so far so good. I imagine that distilled water mixed in small quantities should return Part A to its soft plyable self agian.

I wanted to add something else.

Have you tried taking Part A out of its container and smushing it around to soften it? I noticed that after a few weeks on non-use (damn near a sin I know) the top layer will get crusty and a simple sifting of the product softens it too.

hmmm... i'll have to take a look, i haven't tried to put the whole thing out. Something i don't get though, you said you wet your hands and mix them together, wouldn't you be talking about the scultp and not the paste? the paste is semi-liquid while the sculp is more like clay? my problem is with the paste, juste making sure we speak of the same thing

Ah, you are correct Locke. I was thinking of the Aves sculpy.
However, working the tube and adding mineral water to the Part A should still work I would think.
