Cheaper White 3mm LEDs?

Post by Tchail »

Does anyone know of a cheaper source for 3mm white leds?

I've been buying mine from Fiber Optic Products, but they're $1.25 a piece.

Thanks in advance,

When I need some I usually go with ebay dealer cwithk, the cheapest for 10 is 1.50 free shipping (10 White 5000mcd 3mm Free S/H resistors)

Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

By far, the best deal seems to be through Ebay dealer cwithk.

NNYGamer,

What has your experience with with that seller?

I've had no problems with them, the package is usually marked as sample and looks like it cost almost as much as the LEDs. Plus resistors to run them on 12v. They ship pretty fast too considering small packs are free shipping.

Christmas will soon be here. The day after, all of those great LED Christmas lights go on clearance. I got 50 light sets last year for five bucks each. I still have a few leftovers in my bin.

Looks like he has a pack of 100 3mm white leds available for $16.00.

Seems too good to be true.

And shipping is free, too.

"White" Christmas LEDs tend to be rather blue, though... Like first-generation white LEDs... And the price is at best on par with the Hong Kong sellers on E-Bay, who usually sell better stuff.

I would say don't waste your money on Christmas LEDs, unless it's to decorate a tree.

Don't be too quick to judge them. I picked up a string of twelve or so plus a blinking circuit from ACE Hardware last year that were pure white, as far as I could tell, and they were $5 retail. Also, the Walmart where I live lets you plug in the lights to see the color, and this would be a good way to see before you buy how good the quality is.
