Can I put Aztec Dummy Templates on Acrylic Gloss finish?

Can I put Aztec Dummy Templates on Acrylic Gloss finish?

A friend of mine said that I couldnt put my Aztec Vinyl Decal Templates on my completely dry acrylic gloss finish without damaging the surface paint upon removal of the templates? Is this true?
Everything is relative.
