Enamel on rubber wont dry

Post by Matt1982 »

Yes, yes, yes, I found out that enamel, a solvent based paint, wont dry on certain plastics and rubber after the fact. I am new to this (as you can see by my post count)

I'd rather not remove the paint. Is there anything like an enamel paint hardener that I can spray on? The thing I dont get is that it was already painted, so the enamel is not directly on rubber.

Strip the paint, there's nothing that I know of you can apply to harden it, the softness is due to a reaction between the paint and plastic/rubber.

The paint that's on the part is probably so thin that the solvents in the enamel paint leached through it, causing the problem.
