Suggestions on an easy way to light an Enterprise D 18"

Post by phil10123 »

Hi, I am new to modeling, I am good at painting and making the model look realistic unlit. I just bought an Enterprise D 18" kit and I decided to try and light it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about simple wiring. Just lights no blinking effects or strobes. I just want to light the ship and the engines. I have little experience with electronics so any help would be appreciated thanks.

The easiest way would be to stuff it with a small strand of white LED X-Mas lights. The problem is lighting the engines. The pylons are solid plastic. You will have to scribe a channel to bury the wires in. There is a PE panel available to cover this area though. And then it goes up in complexity from there. There are some lighting kits available that may require some basic soldering. These kits will really make it shine if you want to invest a little more time. It really is worth it as the ship looks great all lit up.
