Okay - I just had a thought:
If I used a circuit for flashing a single LED, then I can use a transistor to blink as many LEDs in parallel as I need.
I just need to find a flasher circuit that runs at 4.5v.
(Most of the circuits I’ve seen have been 9-12v.)

Looking for a (Simple) LED Flasher Circuit
Hello Braintrust!
Does anyone know of a (simple) circuit for blinking two (or more) LEDs on and off at the same time?
I know I could do this with an Arduino, but in this case I’m hoping to avoid the expense.
Any help would be appreciated!

Decaling for Dummies
Hello Everyone, Over the years I've become afraid of the decaling process. I've read lots of horror stories on this site, and I've somehow managed to stay away from this all important step. But I've been working on the Bandai Star Wars Tie Advanced and Tie Fighter models, and before I can seal up th...

Re: Tamiya handy drill
I have it too. I replaced the plastic bearings with Tamiya RC car bearings. Also the Dremel collets fit nicely and work for the 60-80 size bits. Which Dremel collets are you using? The ones I have are too small to work in my Handy Drill without an adapter. The included Tamiya collets measure 5.97 m...

Re: Adding a Pot to the Tamiya Handy Drill?
By “too small,” I mean that the diameter of the Dremel collets is smaller than the diameter of the collets supplied with the Tamiya Handy Drill. The included Tamiya collets measure 5.97 mm / 0.235 inch in diameter, while the Dremel collets are 4.34 mm / 0.171 inch in diameter. Thanks for the link! I...

Re: Adding a Pot to the Tamiya Handy Drill?
I have the drill, and put it together without too much trouble.
However, I was disappointed to find out that Dremel collets are too small to work.
Can anyone recommend a collet set that would work with a #80 bit?

Re: Adding a Pot to the Tamiya Handy Drill?
The Handy Drill runs at about 800 RPM (due to the gearing) and the Router runs at about 1400 RPM. I have used both for drilling plastic going as small as a #80 bit. The trick is to place the drill bit exactly where you want the hole, then hit the trigger. The drill bit should pull itself into the p...

Re: Adding a Pot to the Tamiya Handy Drill?
Don't bother. It's a very handy drill as it is. The speed is reasonably slow and I'll say it's just about perfect for drilling through plastic. That's what it was designed to do, and it does it very well. Everything inside it is plastic, even the gears, so making it spin faster would shorten the li...

Adding a Pot to the Tamiya Handy Drill?
I just ordered the Tamiya Handy Drill.
Has anyone tried modifying the drill by adding a potentiometer to be able to vary the speed?

Acrylic Paint Removal
I just painted some styrene model parts with Tamiya Acrylic paint, but I’ve decided that the color is too dark, so I’d like to strip and repaint.
What would be the best way of removing the paint?
Any insight would be appreciated!

How to Mix an Old Copper Color?
In Gary Kerr’s article on the color of the TOS Enterprise: https://culttvman.com/main/a-modelers-guide-to-painting-the-starship-enterprise-by-gary-kerr/ He describes the pilot defelector dish color as “The larger Pilot version dish was a dull, weathered copper color, similar to an old penny...” Does...

Reducing LED Brightness?
Hey Everyone, I've been working on putting together my first model using LEDs and fiber optics. (I'm almost ashamed to admit that I've played around with both over the years, but never actually committed myself to completing a project using these components.) I've been working using Round 2's recent...

Re: Looking for a 3 LED Flashing Circuit
Thanks for the suggestions! I would love to learn Arduino programming, but of course it boils down to time. I've decided to go with a self-flashing LED, and then run fiber optic to my three spots. This seems to be the simplest way to go. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6kcgxv6jctjv9ds/LED_Flash.MOV?dl=0 C...

Identifying Mystery LEDs?
I recently found a small bag with 50 3mm LEDs when I was digging through a closet. They're water-clear, so I don't know know what color they are. I know that red/yellow LEDs typically are 2.2V, while white LEDs are 3.3V. Any suggestions on how I can tell what they are? (And yes, I do have a digital ...

Thanks for the reply!
In the past, I’ve used this kit from All Electronics:
https://www.allelectronics.com/item/led ... kit/1.html
That would work, if I could figure out how to add an extra LED. Maybe wire a resistor an an LED in parallel with one of the LEDs already on the board?

Looking for a 3 LED Flashing Circuit
Hey Braintrust,
I’m looking for an LED blinking circuit that will flash three LEDs at the same time. The circuit should be able to drive 3.0-3.3v white LEDs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks! I’ll take a look at what I have in the way of heat shrink tubing. It’s definitely worth a shot.
I should add that there are two hex screws on the chuck, positioned opposite from one another.
But trying to screw them in so that they’re equidistant from one another has been a challenge...
