Nice thing about the 7x10 metal lathe is that you can buy a wood working tool rest to take the place of the metal tool bit. So you can still turn wood if the need comes up. Maybe right, but you'll see, you will have to do plenty of grinding and adjustment to the tool rest unit to make it fit in you...
