Re: How to re-scale an existing item used in S.S?

Use a profile image and then scale it from a known size, or simply pick your largest size, eg width of whole ship and see how many pixels it takes up. Compare that to the size you want to build. Here is an example I used for estimating the Bridge on the River Kwai. Once I knew how many pixels Alex G...

@hossfly72, If you already know what you want, only doubt will stop you from creating it.
I am sure you will attain whatever you want from a model.

Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

I'm hoping to build a small 1/144 scale Diorama using Bandia's 1/144 scale At-At.I'm not sure where to get "good plans" for the Endor Moon landing platform? I can get screen shots from the film, but I need some good plans to build the pylons and platform itself. If you can read plans, then...

DIORAMAS you would like to build

Hoping this thread will inspire others to create dioramas. Post a description or an image that portrays the diorama, or an idea for a diorama, you would like to build. Please do NOT post images of built dioramas . The idea is to present ideas. If an already built diorama is your idea for a diorama, ...

Revisiting the 7-Segment Display

The old 7-segment display is what digital clock circuitry was designed around. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven-segment_display Each segment is a LED. They are wired, from the circuitry, to present numbers from 0 to 9. If one re-located the connections, the display would no longer look like numbe...

Re: Reducing LED Brightness?

WARNING: Do not replace the variable resistor (VR) for the resistor inline. Otherwise you will run the risk of selecting a resistance lower than recommended, and blowing the LED. Always add the VR to the resistor.

Re: In search of a variable rate strobe circuit

https://i.imgur.com/8POn9an.jpg Have not tested this, but cannot see why it would not work. I would use, in my first test, a 10 nF capacitor on pin 5. A 10 uF capacitor (to start with) on pin 6. The fixed resistors in option three could be about 1K each. The trim pots could be 10 K each. If test fl...

Re: Looking for small rocket nozzles?

I like some of the nozzles found on squeeze bottles (sauces, glues, etc).
Or for something really small, how about the plastic end of a hypodermic needle.

Re: Design Morphing - does it happen to anyone else?

To design something, one must come up with ideas. Ideas can only come to our awareness if we vacate centre stage of our thoughts. Otherwise we become too pre-occupied with self. Usual pre-occupations include the fears of failure, change, the new, and the unknown/unexpected. These block ideas. To unb...

Re: ABS + glue + PVC = what glue?

Have been using a cement called Weicon VA 8312 . If you follow the guideline procedures the cement works better than anything I have ever used before. It bonds, but the bond can be broken by levering it. I am currently using the cement to glue such odd plastics together for a scratch model. I am hap...
