Looking for small rocket nozzles?

Post by Kekker »

Found some really nice ones at a sporting goods store. You need to find one with fly tying supplies, and look for “cone heads”. These are small metal rounded cones that are hollow and made of metal. They even come in brass, nickel or black, and are available in different sizes.

Thought I’d pass that on.

Good idea. A quick search came up with several models. Some are rounded, and wouldn't look good, but there are others that are machined with the proper curvature and a crisp edge. Shop around.

I like some of the nozzles found on squeeze bottles (sauces, glues, etc).
Or for something really small, how about the plastic end of a hypodermic needle.

Wave, Kotobukiya and maybe Volks sell small rocket nozzles intended for detailing Gundam kits. If the Starship Modeler Store can't order them for you, Hobbysearch and HLJ sell them.

I've made small rocket nozzles for RCS thrusters by turning an appropriate sized piece of sprue in a drill and shaping it with a sanding stick into either a cone shape or rounded end and trimming it off with a razor xacto saw.

Today is a good day to model!
