Re: What putty?
Sorry about that. I see photobucket wants money now for the links to show the images. Well, that ain't gonna happen. Will have to find a different solution for posting pictures here.

Re: Space: 1999 Eagle 1 Colors
Thank you for the link TazMan!!! It was fun to snoop around and read the posts. I have various shades of grey in my stash so I can just play around with them until I find something I like. Now that I know for sure white will be my base, I can go from there.

Space: 1999 Eagle 1 Colors
Hi Everyone,
Do any of you know what is the correct base color, and that of the grey patches on the Space: 19999 Eagle 1 Transporter? I have mine in the prime coat stage and wanted to know what colors to buy when I am ready to paint.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Filling and Sanding Question For a Space: 1999 Eagle
Thanks Kenny!
I actually found a fella on another forum who makes metal inserts for those depressions as well as the bells for the rocket motors for this size eagle. I ordered a pair and waiting for them to arrive to how well they will look on the eagle.

Re: Filling and Sanding Question For a Space: 1999 Eagle
Thanks for all the great suggestions everybody!! :D Sorry for the late reply here, I was offline for the last few days and I was only able to get back at it today. I am intrigued by the white glue solution dizzyfugu. What would be the best way to get it in there without overdoing it? Also, would a r...

Re: Filling and Sanding Question For a Space: 1999 Eagle
My apologies fellas and thanks for the replies! I meant that I wanted to fill that seam, not fill it in entirely. If there is something out there that I could glue into areas without having to do much filling and sanding, that would be great!!
Thanks,
Tom

Filling and Sanding Question For a Space: 1999 Eagle
Hi Everyone, I am currently working on a 1/72 MPC Space 1999 Eagle and I have a question for anyone who has built one of these in the past. On the command module there are circular depressions on either side and I want to know what is the best way to fill and sand those areas? I have just about ever...

Thanks to all of your help I think I've done it!!! I bought the green 3M tape that I cut into very thin stips, and with a stencil I made from the Vulcan shuttle decals here on the SSM site, I think I got a very nice result. Here are a couple of pics from my effort. http://i912.photobucket.com/albums...

Thanks a lot guys this is great! :D Where would be a good place to buy the green masking tape? I have to admit I was using 3M blue masking tape and tried to cut it with an Xacto. :( I was at a LHS today and saw that Tamiya has a masking tape for curves. Do either of you know anything about this prod...

Masking Circular Parts.
I've got a problem and I hope one you great guys out there can help. I am currently working on an AMT/Ertl Vulcan Shuttle and I want to paint the docking collar. The problem is I can't quite seem to be able to mask it properly. I can mask the lower circular part OK but, it's the oblong upper part th...

I second trying the Aves, and I use it on all of my projects. What I like to do is glue the two parts, say a nacelle, then lightly scribe the seam and sand to rough it up a bit. Then roll small strips of Aves into the seam so it lightly covers it, and dip my finger in water to thin as much as I can ...

Well, it took longer than I thought to get some primer on. I did finally give it a nice coat of Krylon gray primer and then found a few flaws to clean up. Over all it turned out pretty nice, and with some touch up filling and sanding it will look pretty sweet. Here's a couple of pictures of my progr...

Thanks so much guys for all of your replies, and suggestions!!! :D I went the hobby shop where I bought both the sanding needles, and Popsicle sticks. What worked best for me were the popsicle sticks. I cut off the end and wrapped some 320 grit around the squared end, sanded the edge where the fame ...

Sanding In Small or Tight Areas
Hi Everyone, I'm building an older AMT/ERTL Vulcan Shuttle, and I have a question. What is the best way of sanding in small or tight areas? I've been using step sanders but, I'm not too pleased with the results. There are some tight areas and sharp angles on this kit, and my fat fingers just can't s...
Mauve?
I'm currently building a Vulcan Shuttle from an older Ertl kit, and I was looking to see if Testors or Tamiya offered Mauve paint. After searching quite a while, the closest color I could see was a German Mauve. Would anyone know where I could find this color or, what the proper mix would be to crea...

I'm sorry to say my last attempt with parafilm did not work out. The film turned into a goo, and the paint always seems to chip away from the ring around the dome. I'm posting a picture of how my last attempt worked out. I may try liquid mask next, and I'm not sure about using BMF or Silly Putty. I'...

My results were not so good. It seems that every time I try and peel the parafilm off after painting the paint chips off as well. It's as if the paint doesn't want to stick to the resin.:( I've tried it twice with the same result. I did use a brand new blade so I would get the cleanest cut. I'm temp...

How Do I Mask This
Hey Everybody! I am looking for the best solution to mask the lower sensor dome for the TOS Enterprise. I have this aftermarket part for the 18" Enterprise, and I want to mask the dome to paint the ring only so I can light it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've attached a pictur...

Clear Coating With Future Floor Wax
I've just finished my Polar Lights TOS Klingon D-7 and wanted to try clear coating it with Future floor wax. I have never used it before and was looking for some tips for applying it to the model. Is it applied with an airbrush, and does it have to be thinned? What about cleaning the airbrush afterw...
