Looks outta sight! Makes me sad.........I've not had a chance to start assembling mine yet...... :( Your turret made me think of an AWACs rotodome. Which made me think of the practical advantages of your shape, I recall reading the rotodome generated as much lift as drag, making it aerodynamically n...

Have you checked to make sure the needle is moving tightly with the trigger? I know it sounds rudimentary, but the way you describe it it doesn't seem you get repeatable, consistent foul ups. makes me wonder if something is just loose. Shot in the dark really, I have an Iwata, not too familiar with ...

Those little bumpers are cool looking and fit the bill nicely. Are they made of silicone? Would you prime that with acrylic if it was silicone?

Why so small.... LOL! I didn't pay attention to the scale when I was tinkering away. I like the idea of it being Gi-Nor-Mous but in real world terms it will scale out about half the size(ish). I am working on learning how to make ovals and "intersects" with the program now, so m...

Okay, since I can't get started til the weekend, and my sketching skills are weak, I found a simple free 3-d sketching program to pass the time. Nice easy program, I was able to do this simple mock up in about a half hour. Imagine what I can do after I read the instructions LOL! http://s334.photobuc...

Interesting shapes.. I cannot recall seeing lids/tops that interesting down here. They are probably out there.. so I must look harder See if you can find plastic quart sized milk jugs, that's where I recognize them. Also pint sized milk "chugs" from McArthur and Velda Farms, 2 U.S. dairie...

I believe I'll have a pair of "emergency" treads on mine. In my backstory, the hover tank technology in question isn't 100% reliable, LOL. Or maybe susceptible to damage/failure. I think some treads for a "limp mode" might be the trick, as well as tying in the terrestrial technol...

Sharp design! I can see it snaking it's way around corners. Your approach to the fans is great too! Will the landing gear be retractable? I'm still tossing ideas for gear on mine, but I may have a somewhat novel workaround.

Keep up the great work! :D

You are correct on the chain gun deal, this is more of a "Vulcan " cannon. I haven't quite nailed the idea on paper, it's been like 3 years since I picked up a pencil. I do have slightly "Marvel comic/mech-ish/Anime" drawing style (albeit rusty) so you may see some of that influe...

Zero-G Led Sled

Here's a quick sketch of my basic idea for my entry. Had to snap a pic of it, scanner is at my house, but I'm at my girlfriend's house. Ah well. Will get better sketches up as time allows, time to dig through my BoG. http://s334.photobucket.com/albums/m422/hankbig/Hover%20Tank%20Challenge%20SSM/?act...

I like it! Sleek...... For gimbles, maybe a set of Heim Joints could work. I don't know if you can find the exact size you need though. It would give you directional thrust. Heim Joint: http://s334.photobucket.com/albums/m422/hankbig/Hover%20Tank%20Challenge%20SSM/?action=view&current=heimjoint....

Hey guys, Can anyone join in?

Sorry I'm late to the party but this sounds like a blast, and I have a few ideas for a hover/anti-grav tank.

If it's cool I'll start a WIP thread after I gather my partsez. :D

I don't know if this could help out since these aren't very "torquey", but they work for me! www.solarbotics.com offers a nice range of very compact micro DC motors. I use them often in my custom Transformer action figures. I am currently using one to rotate the barrels on a small gatling ...

Thanks guys! Both great ideas. For this instance I can use aluminum, but I see occasions where I may need brass or copper for soldering wire to, but again I may be able to just use aluminum and wrap the solder end with copper tape! Well guys, I'm off to practice and sorry for posting in scratchbuild...

Flaring very small diameter brass tube!

Hey gang, like the title says, are there any tricks for flaring small tube stock? Or perhaps some industrious type has created a mini flaring tool. I can't find anything online to point me in the right direction. Thanks a ton! :D

I found this bit of info on the NGineering site about working with the small leds. http://www.ngineering.com/2x3_wiring_tips.htm Very good and useful tut! I imagine 2x3 refers to 2mmx3mm size. when I use the "nanos", which are 1mmx.5mm, I tend to build a simple holder out of styrene rod a...

Hey Folks! Just stumbled on this site and I must say, I'll be hangin' around here for a while!! Great stuff everywhere! As for soldering those nano LEDs, I have used a 30 watt iron and can't seem to kill 'em. They can be a ROYAL PAIN to work with, however. I would not recommend soldering them whislt...
