Mr. Surfacer discontinued?
Hi
Is Mr. Surfacer off the market?
Local hobby shop says they think so (can't get any restocked).
Been in need of the 500.
Thanks

Will 91% Alcohol cut thru a coat of Future?
Hi
Was wondering if swabbing some paint acylic off (that's laying over a coat of Future) with 91% alcohol will also strip off the Future?
Maybe rubbing alcohol instead?
Thanks

Flushing airbrush with lacquer thinner after testors enamel
Hi
Noticed testors enamel clumped in my Aztek when I tried to
flush with hardware store lacquer thinner.
Will the same thing happen if I use hardware store mineral spirits instead?
How about hardware store paint thinner.
Thanks

How long to wait after dryburshing oils to clear coat?
How long do you guys wait to clear coat after using oil paints to dry brush a kit?
I put the piece in a rubbermaid style tub with a lamp in there to speed things up. But wait about a week, was wondering if I could get away with a just waiting couple of days.
Thanks

Hi
Has anyone tried mixing Testors Dullcoat and Glosscote (decanted from cans) to get a satin/medium gloss coat?
Just curious.

What strips oil paint off of vinyl and resin kits?
Hi
Anyone know what strips oil paints (specially Winsor and Newton water soluble oils) off of vinyl and resin kits? The oil is on a acrylic base coat which in turn is on an enamel primer coat.
Thanks

Using masking (technique) with oil paints
Thanks. I was wondering wether you could use masking techniques (using tape, liquids, blue tak, etc), that you wouldn't think twice using on acrylics/enamels, with oil paints. Have you tried masking oil paints on a oil paint base layer? Does the base layer come off when you remove the masking tape/l...

Testors enamel: Canned or Fresh
Thanks! So .75 (ounce?) bottle to 1.5 ounces of mineral spirits or lacquer thinner for the glosses... Comes out to 2.25. That's about what I got when I decanted my first spray can recently...though there might still me a little in the can (haven't tried to see if it's completely empty yet, just fill...

Testors enamel: Canned or Fresh
I tried decanted Testors spray can paint for the first time (usually use acrylics) and was suprised at how well it worked. Just have to work on a vent system so that I don't fog the house up. Had some questions regarding sticking to decanting Testors spray cans vs. using the bottled stuff: 1. What's...

After masking- keeping the two paints level how?
Hi After masking to lay another color of paint. How do you keep both colors the same "height" from the kit's surface? I have been going light to dark colors when possible ('cause it's easier to cover a lighter color with a dark one, ie. use less paint - thinner layer). I think I heard that...

Dot filtering
Hi guys, Finescale calls the technique "dot filtering". Taking small different dots of oil paint on the basic color wiping the dots away lightly using a flat brush damped with solvent/thinner. Seen it done on tank kits so have fair idea of which colors to use on..well...green. Anyone used ...
