Brass bar stock

Post by djdood »

Does anyone have a good contact for an outfit willing to sell small amounts of brass bar stock? I'm looking for a short length (~ one foot) of roughly 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch thick bar.

I've looked at my local hobby shops and hardware stores and unfortunately, it looks like the hobby-suppliers product lines stop short of the thickness I need (they seem to top-out at around 1/8-inch). The hardware stores carry mostly the same hobby-supplier stuff and then jump up to steel (which is way to hard for sculpting-type work like I am doing).

I'm doing mastering work for war-gaming miniatures and if I can get brass in the size I need (and without a ridiculous 30-foot minimum order) it would save me days of cutting and filing.

I've found a few outfits online that claim they'll do small lots and they list the sizes I'm interested in. However, I'm always leery of "cold-calling" a new vendor. I'm hoping someone on here has a reliable source to point my business to.

Thanks folks!

Try Small parts or McMaster-Carr. McMaster has bars up to 3" thick.

They have a 1/2" x 1/4" x 12" brass bar for $8.07.

I figured somebody here had ordered from somewhere successfully.

I'll give those a look tonight. Thanks much!
