Mold Material

I'm in the process of making some molds for a couple projects. I've used Dow Corning 3110 Base & Dow Corning F catalyst on two occasions.... I can no longer find this product.

I ordered some Smooth SIL 950, I've never used it before, has anyone used this product and what kind of results did you achieve?

I've also found another product, Flexane 80 & Flexane 94 from Devcon. These items can be found at this website www.devcon.com

Has anyone used these two products and may I ask what kind of results were seen?

Any information would be appreciated,

I've used Smooth-Sil 930 a bit, which is the Shore-A 30 variant. This stuff is THICK. The Shore-A 50 is probably thicker. I had trouble pulling all the air out of it at 29.5"Hg. I usually cured it under pressure to eliminate any residual bubbles. The molds from the 930 are nice and firm, but I didn't see any tremendous advantage over the cheaper Mold Max 30, so I've gone back to the Mold Max tin-cured rubber for regular production use. You didn't specify the types of masters you'll be molding or the intended use of the castings, so I hope my general experience helps you a little.

Thanks Joseph. My experience with making molds is limited. I've made some in the past without the aid of a vacuum to eleminate the air bubbles and I got some pretty good results, I think because I only used the one product.
