Flex pad sanders

Post by macfrank »

I recently got some Flex pad sanders and they're excellent. The 150, 280 and 320 grit sand away material quickly, but the really useful ones are the 600 and the 2400/4000/12000 grit pads. I was able to sand off all molded on panel lines from a clear canopy, then quickly bring the plastic back to almost completely clear before having to use plastic polishing compound.

It's faster and I got getter results than with sandpaper/sticks then the micromesh plastic polishing sheets.

To me, these are worth the money, with a couple exceptions. The medium tan ones just don't hold up. The red one is nice, but loads easily.

I wind up using the Fine and tri-grit more than anything else. I epoxied some 400grit wet-sand 3M paper to some wood and styrene stock of various shapes, which holds up great.
