Where to buy 30 awg wire for Madman lighting kit.
Hi,
I have a Madman lighting kit I'm going to be putting in and wanted to get some extra wire...Any ideas? I tried Radio Shaft...but they don't have red and black. They carry red but it is out of stock.
Also, can you get just the flashing board from Madman?
Thx
Mark

You could also ask me...
What do you want the flashing board to do? Same as the regular Starship Lighting kit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycUsql8aWG8 or something else?

Cutting the fiber optic is pretty easy... they're just plastic.
If you want it shorter length-wise, just about anything will work.
If you want to divide it in half, use an X-acto knife and split the jacket along its length, then just pull out as many fibers as you want.
Here's a neat trick... Warm up the ends of the fiber with something hot, at a bit of a distance. The ends will soften and melt a little bit, forming a nice smooth lens that will draw in more light.
Have fun!

Stranded will take moving and pushing a little better, the solid can be broken off through metal fatigue pretty easily. If you want stranded you should look into getting a wire stripper that can strip it properly though. Nicking the solid wire while stripping it will eat into its durability as well.

Thanks...I'll try them.

Chicago area.
One more question...does it matter if it is solid or stranded? I thought that I read somewhere it is better if it is stranded.
Thx

Then buy 100ft for $37.
And it comes in colors!
(PVC coated is even more expensive)
