paints that don't yellow? weather-resistance too?

Post by Spacephrawg »

I was cleaning out my room and found an old half-finished F18 model from 12 years ago that had not seen the light of day, literally, in all of that time. I had painted it with enamels and they were already yellowing! No UV exposure and they were yellowing!

So: what sorts of paints can I use that don't yellow? Acrylic? Lacquer? What else? There have got to be other kinds of paints. I know there is polycarbonate paint for Lexan. What else is there?

Thanks!

The old trick I've used was to add just a drop or two of blue to white enamel to keep it from yellowing. Don't know how it works but it does. Don't put in more than two drops or it will tint the white.

I sprayed 2 kits using Plasit-Kote laquer and after a few years they did turn yellow.
Normal?? What is normal??

It should only take a few years and they will not be very yellow, just a yellow tinge just enough to notice. :D
