Hello and Help
I have this chip which was from an old torch

I have succesfully used that chip in my reliant build by just running the leads of to the individual leds and located them where i needed them, it all works great
But it was messy having all the wires come from a central point.
So now i am doing a new kit and this is a basic schematic of what i want to do

I know that on the original circuit the Wiring is in Parallel, but by doing what i have done and cut the chip into sections for easier placement and less wiring have i broken the parallel circuit and is the rest going to be in series?
And if so will i need to run the positive and negative leads like i have indicated in the next pic

You really do need the pieces of the chip. Just string the leads from LED to LED connecting the red lead to the yellow LED lead and black to black (using your colours). If you need a group of LEDs in one location/area you also tie all of the yellow LED leads together and then the black LED leads together, then tie the yellow leads to a red lead and a black to the black.

Yeah, 5watt 15ohm resistor used, already got that under control, as said before I have the same chip in it's entirety running in another kit, trial and error got it from 1w to 5w, as for power supply got a 1200ma unitScott Hasty wrote:You better get some heavy duty resistors and a bulky power supply.
