Bonding large sheets of styrene

Post by Dr. Snuts, M.D. »

I need to cement 2 6X12" sheets of styrene. Any tips? I haven't had much luck with the Testors styrene glue. Do I need to sand the surfaces first? Is there a spray adhesive at a reasonable price I could use?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

It might help to sand the surfaces first. Also don't try to do the whole surface at once. Start at one end, add a little cement, roll it down, add a little more cement, etc.
I speak of the pompatous of plastic.

What are you trying to bond the pieces to?
Are you bonding them along the edges (ie making a box) or laying the sheet down flat (like a baseplate)?

For the flat application I'd use either spray adhesive or contact cement.
