Need a specific limit switch

Post by MillenniumFalsehood »

Hey guys, I need help finding a limit switch, but without knowing the specs of the type I already have, it's difficult to find similar ones.

I basically ripped two TINY limit switches from a couple of VCRs with the intention of using them in an X-wing model I'm making, to shut off the motor when the wings are open/closed. Thing is, these switches are normally open, and I need normally closed type switched. Plus, I need them to be this small in order to fit inside the body without major surgery.

Here's a pic of one of the switches:

As you can see, it's very tiny, and has very little resistance, as well has being equipped with a plunger. I just need them to be exactly the opposite of what they are. Does such a beast exist?

Look for "detect" or "detection" switches on DigiKey or Mouser. These types of switches can be very small and usually have some overtravel on the plunger. Both NO and NC versions are typically available.

I've always called them limit switches. They're easily available in NO or NC configuration.
