Source for mesh/screen?

Does anyone know a source of pretty fine mesh screen? About 4-7 cells across the engine openings of a Timeslip TOS Galactica specifically. Sure I'd prefer thin hexagonal screen. But close is ok. I've got some old Dr. Microtools mesh screen, but it's too fine. I can't find evidence that this company is still in business. I've got some "Darice" brand perforated plstic mesh from the knitting section of a craft store. It's a little thick. I keep thinking armor modelers or someone knows where you can get any size and design you want. I've used this excuse for at least 3 months to keep from making progress on my Galactica. Help anyone?

BTW, the very nice set of panels from Outer Space OUtfitters works great on the Monogram kit but they're too small in various dimensions for the Timeslip kit.

Found a place, actually several. Just got to google right. This place actually gives you the number of wires per inch so I could find something that's close to scale.

OK, they're gonna charge $10 for a "swatch", which turns out to be 3x3. But they're also gonna charge $10 to ship a piece of metal that probably weighs less than a postcard and would fit several times in a standard envelope. Nice.

This might not be quite what your looking for. The quantities and prices are probably more than you may want to get/spend also.

A suggestion, you could check with any local window or glass shops and see if they might have some scrap screen material from damaged windows or custom made screens.

If window screen will be small enough, I repaired some screens a while back and have some remnants stashed somewhere. I can send you some if it will work.

Hit Michaels or AC Moore and go to the sculpting section. They have various meshes of screen there in small packs of 2-6 sheets at about 5" x 7".

For a grocery item, its in the medium to high price range, but compared to modeling supplies its fairly inexpensive. Try getting one of those re-usable coffee filters. The least expensive are the plastic ones, and the cheapest are purposely made of a thin material, yet have a high density mesh. Bed, Bath, and Beyond sell brass filters, which have a long life, but are also pricey, even by modeling supply standards.

All good ideas. I'll give them a try. Thanks. I calculate the screen will have to have 15 or so cells per inch to be roughly in scale. We'll see what pops up. If I was at an IPMS Nationals, there'd be a vendor with that kind of stuff. In fact, I have a couple of sets but they're too fine, more suited to F-117 sensor screens

Found a product for $5.99 called "Activ-Wire Mesh - Incredible Sculptural and Modeling Wire Mesh." It was a 12x24 inche sheet folded about six ways. It was diamond not octagonal and possibly a bit large, but it'll do. Lots left over. Thanks again.

Thanks, Springhill, I'll have to check that out. How well do the individual cells hold their shape. I can see great applications for that stuff in field-applied screen uses. For air/spacecraft uses, I'd think it has to be pretty uniform. Still, I gotta check it out. The stuff I found was as good as I've found, and I've got tons of extra if anyone wants some and wants to send me an SASE.
