OK, I'll get this thing done within 24 hours if it kills me.
It's Bandai mini kit No. 8 from Star Blazers. A Comet Empire single-deck carrier. So far I've done partial assembly and primered it. Here's the link.
Surprisingly, paint I mixed for another Comet Empire carrier close to 20 years ago still seems to be usable!
I'll post pics of the finished article, and maybe some progress pics if that doesn't cause a delay. Also a pic of my other Comet Empire carrier, since I'm trying for a consistent appearance.

Go for it!
I am happy to report that I FINALLY have Internet service again at home. The ISP I had been with (called Primecast) went bankrupt the second week of June, and took my service with them. I've been relying on the Internet connection on my phone to even be able to look at e-mail and to post something every once in a while.
So . . . bring on the kits!

Commander Burnham: Fortunately for you, I was raised on Vulcan. We don't do funny.
Captain Pike: Ha! (ouch)
Commander Burnham: Maybe I should just shut up.
Math Problem: Sam has 100 model kits, Frank takes 10 model kits ... what does Sam have?
Answer: 100 model kits and a corpse.

OK, I underestimated the demands on my time. I had prep work and grading to do, more than I realized, and if your wife and daughter are going to the pool, just try announcing that you're staying home to build models. You might guess how well that would go over.
I also overestimated the ease with which this kit goes together. In most cases, modifications were required to get the small parts to fit. Here's where I was when I realized time was up: http://bellerophon-modeler.blogspot.com ... -8_30.html
So this one-day build is a fail. Fortunately, I've got another Comet Empire ship to build, so maybe I'll knock that one out in 24 hours.

I'm still bitter that I was only a few hours from finishing my Cardassian Galor, so I feel your pain. But it was a good try, Bellerophon! you'lll get it next time

OK, I got the one-day build done in eight days. Here it is. Since I blew the deadline, I did more with it, like printing a decal to replace the sticker in the box.
I'm glad to see the deadline extended again. I've got one more unbuilt Comet Empire ship.

Check the other threads, because I announced that I extended the deadline one last time, through the end of July.Bellerophon wrote:I'm glad to see the deadline extended again. I've got one more unbuilt Comet Empire ship.

Very nicely done! If you'd be willing to write a review of your build-up, I'd really like to have it to post on my website. I have some Star Blazers kits up, but that's one kit I never managed to get my hands on.Bellerophon wrote:OK, I got the one-day build done in eight days. Here it is. Thanks for your kind words, Gouf and Lonewolf. These ships are easy to build, and fun to paint. It's like figure painting. In fact, that Comet Empire twin-deck carrier is actually painted white with Ral Partha primer.
Lonewolf, I'd be glad to add to what I wrote up (while it's fresh in my mind) for your kit directory, even if it's not very timely.
Here's the rest of my little Star Blazers fleet: http://bellerophon-modeler.blogspot.com ... azers.html
Regrettably, I have only 6 of the 30 Star Blazers minis, one still unbuilt. They sold for less than $1 back in the '70s, I got these for $2.50 apiece 20 years ago, and now they are offered on Ebay for $10-20, plus shipping. I want more of them, but not that badly!
