how do you light your nacells?

how do you light your nacells? and please dont just say with lights

how is it you get that soft glow and not that spoty lighting? and a Question/ challange can you think of any way to get that copper look to them when your lights are off? but still have the usual soft blue glow? i was thinking may be painting the copper in strips? leaving blank clear plastic between?

I've found a good idea while building my 1/350 PL-Refit.
First, i soldered several SMD-LEDs an resistors on a board and mount them into the nascell.

Also, i placed some sanded tranparent plexi on the top to break the Hot-Spots.

The result: Not very impressive at this point.

The solution was very easy: I just flip the board, so the LED light the back of the nascelle. Wow!

The paintjob is first complete black and then a layer of chrom. No lightleaks anywhere!

Nice, I wanted to put this up as a general discussion about it, I'm lighting my first starship and it's the revell voyager. So I was lookin for a few ideas

I purchased some ccfl kits. They come in various sizes and colours. I purchased some that were 4" and 6" long. Colours blue and white. This will be for my 1:350 Refit. I think these would be too small for the smaller kits. (ie 1:1000 refit)

The kits for the computers come with a large block on the ends that you can grind off. You can get ones with only the wires on the ends.

They need a transformer box that will have to be hidden somewhere. The power supply is 12VDC. They are nice and bright and the diameter of the tubes are fairly small and will be no problem in a 1:350 refit. They would also fit the larger scale Ent E, D, C, B, Voyager
