filters over decals?

So, umm, yeah, can the oil filter technique be done after decals have gone down?

As long as you have a good, solid clear over the decals you can weather them with filters. Be mindful of the chemistry, though; the thinner you use with your oils should not soften the clear coat.

Always over decals. Otherwise they'd look too clean.

Just be careful you don't accentuate the edge of the carrier film.

Important point - and it's rather easy to do as well.

I believe MicroMark has a kit - which I have not used - which 'eliminates' decal film, but I'd only believe it after trying. It's intriguing though. It would certainly eliminate that "wash bleed into decal film corner crevasse issue" that I've got ocassionally. Maybe I should just make my sealer coats thicker, but I'm always loathe to do this.

MicroSet & MicroSol. Combined they help dissolve the gelatin carrier leaving behind just the ink.

I use a brush and future to seal the decals and it usually goes on thick enough to eliminate any edges left that the MicroSet/MicroSol combo doesn't. Don't know that future will stand up to odourless turpanoid though. Anyone have experience with this?

It does. I just make sure the Futures dries for a couple of days before I apply the washes.
