One-Day Build Challenge: 1/4 Bf110C Instrument Panel

Hooray!! I finally beat the one-day build challenge! I circled and circled on a subject and finally came to Eduard’s 1/4 Bf110C Instrument Panel. A few months back I picked up the Royal Class Bf110 pack and this was included. Since the initial release the dashboard has actually been packaged as its own kit. Woot!

I opened it up to look at the parts last night around 9pm…and I finished up around 6 so 3 hours to spare! Even more so because I didn’t start painting and assembling all the parts until this morning sometime. The instructions called for a base coat of RLM 66, which is a med/dark gray-black. Instead I opted for a coat of light gun metal straight from the rattle can then toned down with some dull coat. The frames are flat black. I really like how the combination came out. Oh, it's also got magnets in the back for versatile mounting.

BUT

You can build this in a day, but you can't CALL A BRUTHA?!?!?

That's awesome. You did a great job giving it a used look.

Out of curiosity, what's the application for something like this? Is it a standalone model or is it meant to go into an RC plane or something?

I'm treating it as a stand alone. Strange model though...I suppose if you did build a quarter scale R/C Bf110 it would work...

That looks great! I've never seen anything quite like that, just whole cockpits, and not 1/4 scale. That looks amazing, even more so that it's a ODB.

Someone in my model club is building this kit too, though it's been a couple of months since he brought it to a meeting. Loved what you did with it, though. The "used" looks is impressive

I hope he hasn't been working on it for months! Seriously, this took me maybe 3 or 4 hours combined...tops!

Seriously, he could have completed it and shown it off at one of the meetings I didn't attend. Or he brought it in soon after he bought it to show it off, did the usual sprue fondling and then put it away unbuilt.
