Ok,...thats it. Im taking a hammer to that camera.
Basically I have sections of copper piping in the blanked off engines. I was just thinking maybe make rudimentary burner faces and be done with it.
The second image was a scale test shot....didnt realize the camera wouldnt focus it.

Yeah, some kind of burner face would be nice. Or maybe a rocket nozzle way up in there. You might be able to find some photoetched circular tank inlet grilles that'd look nice. I'd add several "layers" of stuff inside, to make individual bits less recognizable.
I might also consider adding some strip styrene detail or ribs to the outside of the copper tube to make it more interesting.

Actually its a cheap Vivitar kids camera, only one I have available to use. The thing WILL not take a decent pic no matter what you do...
I need a new one.

I got my camera from Craig's List ... it's pretty good, for only $75Jon Kunatz wrote:Actually its a cheap Vivitar kids camera, only one I have available to use. The thing WILL not take a decent pic no matter what you do...

Well, let me put it this way - it's better than my skill levels, both modeling & photographic.
What I really need is the 'SiaoMouse Accessory' - if I could only get him attached to my camera's view-finder, I know the pictures of my models would turn out great!
Seriously, though - the 'layers of greeblies' is good advice. Armor intake grilles sandwiched with tank idlers/spoked wheels - I once found, in a $ store, tennis-racquet swizzle sticks - those things were an awesome find, and worked for drains, intake grilles - all kinds of impression-of-depth uses.

Im still undecided about adding ribbing inside the engines. I tried using corrugated aluminum sheet and almost made a mess of everything. Nice thing is I can finish the kit and decide later if I want to add any more detail to the engines.

John,
I saw your Viper at the O'Hare show and thought it was really well done.
The only thing I did not like and it is only a personal opinion, was. The grey you used was too dark for my taste.
Congrats on the Silver. When i saw it, I knew it would win something.
And no I did not Judge.......
Cheers
