Fiber Optics and 1000 Scale Enterprise

Post by nac359 »

Hey guys!

I'm thinking about doing some minimal lighting on the 1000 scale Enterprise A (nav lights, & a flasher or 2). Looking at the size and space in the model there isn't much room so I'm planning on using 1 or 2 central LEDs and running fiber as needed to the different areas.

My question is for the nav lights, does anyone have a recommendation on the appropriate diameter of fiber to use to get a good effect here? I've used fiber a few times before, but its always been very narrow / thin and i don't think it would look right here.

Also if anyone has a better idea on how to do the lighting I'm open to that too! :D

I don't think anyone has an answer for you. I would guess .25mm. That's the smallest that I have seen. Consider that the 1/350 E refit has a 1mm opening for nav lights, so .25mm isn't going to be too small.
