Spam is a problem after this upgrade--the Captchas have all been broken. I changed it to a Q&A, I'm hoping this helps a bit. There's a lot of spam controls we can enable with this new software, it's just going to take some time to go through them all and find the combo that'll give us the biggest bang for the buck.

I too have recieved such but no e-mail alerting me to having unread PM.

I haven't been following this upgrade too closely, will inline images be stored on SSM server (optionally?)?
You call it "social distancing", in Sweden we call it "Tuesday".

FYI, if you hold Ctrl and use the scroll wheel (or manually go into the View menu) you can change the zoom level and it'll stick for just the site you're on. You can also zoom only the text via the menu option. There's another site that was suddenly tiny-texted that I use that feature on.

This seems like an OS specific or browser specific answer (none worked for me). Currently using a chromebook and lettering still kinda small for these old eyes (which need new glasses undoubtedly). Which menu? chrome doesn't really have a view menu. Change the settings to "Large" and it really didn't affect the size of the font at all, which I'm not surprised. I have a trouble not just here. It seems user's size setting is frequently superseded by the site style sheet. No font setting I could find in forum display options. Any other possible solutions?

I just tested it on my daughter's chromebook. Hold down the control key, then use the scroll wheel on the mouse to make the stuff on the screen bigger/smaller.

Upper right-hand corner of the screen there should be a "private messages" link underneath the search field.

email notifications of topic replies are coming from the friendly name of John Lester instead of the previous OneZero. Not a complaint, just a comment in case that wasn't the intention.

While people have requests for changes, I'd just like to say one thing I like about this new forum that irritated me about the old one: it used to mark topics as read with some sort of time expiration. Now topics I haven't read yet remain unread until I read them. I'm glad about that.

That just means your email has recognized onezero@starshipmodeler.net as John Lester or that John changed his email settings here.

Just the opposite for me, now I have to remember to click "mark forums read" before I leave to another forum/website.

Bolded text is the correct answer. My email doesn't connect the dots and I've set it up to be extremely literal and only report what people send.

Well, I'm on the opposite side of the world from most of you guys. By the time I get to read this forum, most of you are asleep and those topics have time expired and they didn't seem like they have new posts. I'd rather manually mark topics read than to have the forum arbitrarily do that for me and I miss something.

On the topic of "mark all read", is there a way to have a button on the main index to mark everything as read at one click? I still haven't gotten into the habit of clicking the button in each topic area.

If I'm not mistaken, when you're at the top level (e.g. after clicking on "Board Index"), you should see a "Mark forums read" link on the top right.

Actually it's there on the index page as well as each sub forum page, the difference is when you click on MFR located on the index page it marks each sub forum read but when you do it on each sub forum page it just marks topics read for that section only.

On the old forum it was possible to login to check your new personal messages without reseting the forum posts that are new to you.

Now, when you login and check your personal messages does this reset the forum posts that are new to you?

1) Inline Images? Yes. The ban is lifted. Keep it family friendly. You can control whether you see them or just links in the User Control Panel.
Where in the User Control Panel is this?

3) I hate Avatars on the right side - can we go back to the old way? I hear ya. I'm looking for a mod for that.
Met too. I like the Avatars on the left side.

With this new forum, will threads still go away or will they now be stored? I've been reluctant to start build threads knowing they might disappear if I don't build and post quick enough.
