Original Fighter Ship Design (Scratch Build)

What's up, everyone! I'm new here and it's great to see such great work being posted. Thought I'd post my scratch build fighter, "The Black Talon." I made the entire body from cardboard and paper mache with wood sticks for the engine details. The cockpit canopy and hatches to the gunport and cargo area all open on hinges and lock with magnets. The gunport and its chair both rotate 360 degrees. The ship fits any 3.75 inch figures. Feel free to ask me any build questions. Hope you like it. Thanks!

Thanks! I love using cardboard because it's cheap and it forces me to be more creative.

Thanks Mr. Badwrench! The turret is made out of the cardboard from a masking tape roll, the bottom of a Pepsi liter bottle for the "glass," and chopsticks for the cannons. The chair is cardboard covered with paper mache.

I've been using wood for models lately, and I am enough of a hippie to really enjoy sweeping my scraps into the compost instead of the trash. Your fighter looks sharp!

Yeah, I grew up playing with Star Wars figures and vehicles, so I wanted to build a model in that vein. The magnets work well. I don't have to worry about latches breaking off.

Wood is a fun material too! When I was a kid, I used balsa wood. Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks for the comment! I built the ship over a period of about five years, working off and on. I did take a few WIP snaps, but I'm not exactly sure where they are! I do remember an early pic of just the cardboard body before I coated it with paper mache. Have to dig through my old boxes of photos.
