Hi Gang .. I have the 'Leopold & Mortar 'Karl' railway gun kits, but what other tank/ armor kits would you recommend for a good greeblie selection?
I'm thinking that modern tank kits would be a good start. I'm particularly interested in smaller, cool detail parts than anything, but I'd love to pick your minds for what you've found to work well.
Thanks in advance for any recommendation you might have.

The Leopold and Karl Morser are authentic kits used in SW and in other Sci-Fi movies for detailing. In addition the King Tiger, and Panzers an several other tanks too numerous to mention. One of the problems in using the previous mentioned kits is that they have been used so often that they become readily identified (at least in the sci-fi models community). There are several more modern tanks that haven't been used lately in sci-fi modelling,therefore being less identifiable. Check out sites that review Tamiya, Meng, etc. models and display their sprue. You will identify several greeblies that can be used and make something truly original. There are also several everyday items that can be used in detailing. HO model railroad detail parts also make good 'greeblies,' steam engine parts in particular.

There is a model shop near where I work & they sell both model kits & HO Railroad items. So I'm definitely going to see what's available. I definitely want details that aren't readily identifiable... that kind of ruins the illusion for me. Especially after the 70's & 80's when everyone began pointing out what part came from what kit. You can't keep that from happening completely, (and I understand the joy of figuring those kinds of details out sometimes).
I'm also looking online for sites that do reviews of some of these kits...I found one, that seems to have some good pic's I can look at.

Just don't go the Stella Starr route and glue entire sprue trees onto the model!
Saw it in the theater and I was going, "Uhh... that's the tree from a Mk. III panzer..."
Production values on that film were.....

Oh dear Lord no! LOL... I remember seeing previews and photos in Starlog magazine. This is when everyone was rushing to cash in on Star Wars... truly a slap dash effort from people that just didn't understand how it was done.. whew!!

It was called 'Star Crash' here in the U.S. Actually I think the full title was 'Star Crash: The Adventures of Stella Star', kinda says it all doesn't it?

Oooohhh, no!
It was a theatrical release! I went with a bunch of friends from my college Sci-fi/fantasy club. We were, to say the least, underwhelmed!
I think we spent more time trashing the movie afterwards then we did sitting in the theater. "Dude - cavemen with brown underwear leaping over the camera!" "A robot space sheriff with a southern accent!"
I watched it again last year. It needed some serious, um.... mind-altering to make it through!
