Using liquid latex mold maker as a mask over acrylics...
Wise and Sagely Modelers,
I bought some liquid latex mold builder today, both to make some simple molds and to use as a liquid masking agent.
I notice it's got ammonia in it. If I use it as a masking agent over something finished with Future, or an acrylic paint, will it damage said coating?
I appreciate your advice.

Unless you used CA glue to attach the canopy. CA glue give off vapours which form a foggy film. I've never had any luck removing it, but some say that polishing will work.leo limuaco wrote:So that's why...Okay one more question. I've already used future on this canopy that I've already used liquid latex. I'm guessing that the fogging is due to the ammonia in the liquid latex. How do I remove the fogging?

It's easire to not use CA to attach canopies, though.

wisdom says ammonia and acrylics aren't buddies..
but if its mold builder...in a fat little white/blue tub...prob picked up from Michael's crafts...
I use it regularly....over acrylics...Tamiya and Model master...and it doesn't harm them....no color probs...no pulls...nothing.
trust me..
but try it on a test piece if you don't believe me..
only prob i have with it...it's a little thick...so doesn't work great for tiny tiny masking.

Yeah, I got it at the Michael's in E-Town. I'll test it on a piece of clear styrene with Future. Thanks everyone!qc wrote:wisdom says ammonia and acrylics aren't buddies..

Liquid latex is always used in theatrical or costume body paint and make up. Each has its own effects and length of duration. Body paint can involve just the face or it can be a full-body design.
