Newbie seeks primer!

Post by rockhopper »

I am in the process of building my first multi media kit, a WARP Eagle.
I have reached the point that i need to start priming the parts before assembly and final painting.
Can anyone recommend a primer suitable for white metal and resin.
Ideally i would like a water based primer, for ease of cleaning, that i can use in my airbrush.

Many Thanks

Second the recomendation on the Mr. Resin primer (Mr. Surfacer for resin). Looking at it, it appears to be somewhere between 500 and 1000. Good for filling pinholes without losing detail.

Thanks guys
So the resin Mr Surfacer is fine for the white metal and resin?
Does it spray straight from the jar or need thining?
Anyone know where i can get the Mr Surfacer in The UK, or a good online supplier?

Yep, it'll work on the metal too. It's pretty hot stuff.

I don't know of a supplier in the UK, although www.hlj.com carries it.

I thin it a bit with Lacquer thinner, about 10-20% or so--I just eyeball it.

I just use sandable flat acrylic automobile primer straight out of the spray can. Works great, and I don't have to worry about yet another reason to clean my airbrush.

The stuff here in the States comes in black, dark gray, light gray, white, and rust colors.

Captain Pike: Ha! (ouch)
Commander Burnham: Maybe I should just shut up.
