I've been using my favorite tool to apply the putty; my finger.

Yeah, I've been thinning down Bondo spot putty with a little bit of acetone based fingernail polish remover to make it a little wetter to make in seep into cracks and seams. So far it's working nicely. My pants and shirt are pink from the dust that's been created while sanding. Let me tell 'ya, my right arm is pretty toned about now!

Only problem I'm encountering so far is the removal of panel lines while sanding like on the Defiant and the teeny tiny raised squares on the sides of the engineering hull of the Refit.

Isn't this paste toluene-based? Organic solvents aren't meant for skin contact.

And you should be wet-sanding. Inhaling that dust is not good for you.

are vynil (sp?) gloves safe for this? I know latex is crap for organic chemicals because its porous and allows stuff to go right through and even disolve the glove itself. I've found vynil is good for turpentine/turpenoid; putties too?

THe first time i ever used milliput, ahem the first 5 months i used it, i knew neihter about resporators nor skin contact being dangerous. So far I'm ok but since then i've got the fear of chemicals in me so now its gloves and resporators from now on.

Nitrile is better. Vinyl is a general name.

I've used nitrile gloves with catalyzed Bondo, solvent stuff and all kinds of chemicals that shouldn't be touched. Haven't had a problem yet.

I like them a lot better than latex, which seems to have an odd reaction to my personal skin chemistry - it turns dark and starts losing its elasticity pretty fast. Vinyl seems a lot stiffer than nitrile.
