I'm just wrapping up a refit of an R/C ship, and I need to seal the paint with something that will stand up to prolonged immersion.
The ship was originally molded in that wonderful semi-gloss hard plastic. I primed it, and repainted it from the keel up. She's been outfitted in Model Master Lt. Ghost Gray, with a Gunship Gray aft deck, and Dk. Gull Gray detailing. I sealed it with two coats of Future, applied the decals, and then sealed it with two more coats of Future. But I'm afraid that the Future won't hold in the water, and that it will strip off, taking the paint with it.
I have Deft semi-gloss polyurethane at home, and Testor's GlossCote, but I don't know if either of them will work. I thought about calling a marine supply store, but I don't know if any of the marine sealants might attack the plastic hull.
Here are some shots of how she looks right now.

Oh . . . in case you're interested, she's a Sovremenny Class Soviet Cruiser in 1:115 scale. Length is 31 inches, beam of 3.5 inches, keel to mast height of 8 inches. 9.6V power supply driving dual screws.
Thanks for any help you might be able to give me!

Commander Burnham: Fortunately for you, I was raised on Vulcan. We don't do funny.
Captain Pike: Ha! (ouch)
Commander Burnham: Maybe I should just shut up.
Math Problem: Sam has 100 model kits, Frank takes 10 model kits ... what does Sam have?

Bluesman recommended the same thing. I sent Umi a PM on Monday, but I haven't heard back from her yet. I just checked my PM log, and the message is still listed in the Outbox with a sent time of 0830 on 8/14/06.
