Perhaps there's no clearcut answer but...
What's the best method to use for applying decals so as to avoid silvering ? I've done decals over a coat of glosscote lacquer and also over a coat of future floor wax. I've then sealed them with either another coat of lacquer over the original glosscoat or another coat of future over the original wax coat. I've also tried glosscote over wax and wax over glosscote to seal the decals. Do any of you master modelers out there have any opinions as to the best technique ? I think I have a pretty good idea of the answer to this but I'd really like an expert opinion on this.

Well..... since it's apparent that no one is going to respond to this post just thought I'd respond myself.
I just finished my PL D-7 and the verdict is in: glosscote lacquer, future acrylic wax (with a small amount of green food coloring added to give it a subtle green cast), a good rub down with model wax for a REALLY slick surface, decals, two coats of gloss lacquer, another coat of future, and a final coat of dullcote. Worked like a charm !
Thanks to all who at leat viewed my post ! )

Well, if you'd checked the Decal section of the finishing forum you'd probably have gotten a answer.
You can also use Future as the base gloss coat provided you're willing to wait a few days for it to truely cure. Otherwise the water or MicroSet/Sol might dig into it abit and casue issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. In future, I'll be more cognizant of the section I post my queries in.kylwell wrote:Well, if you'd checked the Decal section of the finishing forum you'd probably have gotten a answer.
