Detachable electronic base

Ive tried to contact trekmodeler but he never got back to me.....this was a long time ago.....

Look at his site and look at his Enterprise E. His models can detach from the base. How do I do that and where can I get those parts.

Looks like a regular DC power plug.

I got hese bulk from mouser electronics, we needed 8 + spares for hte docking arms. Unfortunately since then we've lost one and since the attachemnt point is deep in the neck of the space station I was un able to repair it. Mounting it sturdily into the model is the trick.

Another good way is to use 1/4" audio jacks.

Yes, we are doing a refit cycle to get all the ships and docks assembled for a round of showings. We want to take it to a local model show in November. I have to come up with a scheme to get power into the dock through the power rails. If we had not put those on I'd have to hack up the power connector on the end of the spine and try to attach wires to the wires inside it.

The idea is to make the arm and model displayable separately form the station in the case that folks want to show their ship or display it, stand alone.


The problem with a 1/4 inch jack is the plug will have to be able to insert deeply into the model. and on that model it dosen't look like there is room in the secondary hull to house all the plug.

Cushcraft makes some great 1/4" jacks, all steel. They are meant for stage shows and cna take the stress of mounting, of generally being rocked. Some have a threading jacket that will threead onto a specail female locking the jack 'in.'
