lite over coat?

Hey all
I painted the model I am building and I want to tone down the blues. How do I airbrush a lite over coat of lite grey to tone them down a bit. I dont want to do it and then have speckles ya know...

Very carefully?

Make sure the airbush is clean (like deep clean) and then thin more than usualy and try about 12 in distance with very little paint and a lotta air.
