My Warp is warped - help straightening resin part
I'm working on a WARP B5 Omega kit and a couple flat pieces are bent. I've heard you can use hot water to straighten them back out, but how would I go about doing that? How hot do you need to get the part?

Warm water - boiling is not needed. Warmer than soup you'd eat, but not much.
Submerge the part until the resin is warm. Take it out and hold it in the correct position until cool. You might want to find something to use as a guide.
Remember, the resin will be soft - so you can't use rubber bands or anything else that might deform the resin. Clamping is RIGHT OUT!
Dude - you're in Dayton?

Yeah I'm actually in Miamisburg which is a suburb of Dayton. About 15mins away from downtown Dayton.
What i do to flatten "flat" pieces is to get a 1'x1' piece of marble flooring from a place like Home depot (should be under $10 and has more than one use). I then place the warmed piece on the cool marble. It will be flat and cooled in no time.

With a model as big as the Omega I would definitly pin the larger parts and if you are willing to take the time for the glue to cure i would us 2 ton exopy. It takes about 45 min. to cure but it is a super strong bond.
As to the smaller flat parts just glue then with 5 min epoxy and don't worry about pinning them.
One thing i forgot to mention in my last post is that the marble is also good for flat sanding. I take a sheet of wetsand sandpaper and cover the back with two sided carpet tape. you can then get it to lay flat on the marble and then you can wetsand a perfectly flat side on a piece.
Hope this helps,
Mark
