Possible LED source ?

Post by marc111 »

Has anyone bought from the LEDshoppe? Their prices seem to be good and I am considering using them for my E.

Thanks,

I have not bought from them, but as you say, their prices look pretty good. But you may need to buy a large number of leds. This is not necessarily bad. But it must be considered in the decision.

Be careful, these folks are in Hong Kong and I've found several very inexpensive Hong Kong LED vendors, all claiming to be the best. My normal LED vendor is in the US and sure, they're more expensive but I've had no trouble with them at all.

As you can see none of the LEDs have a regular manufacture's spec sheets.

That means, current useage, voltage requirements, lifetime, and mostly color wavelegnths are all fuzzy. That means in a batch you may get visibly different colors and brightnesses.

You might want to add reliability to the list, these could be factory reject parts that do work, but maybe not for very long.

Always remember, you get what you pay for.

Best to shy away from deals to good to be true. I bought from a "bulk" dealer [name withheld ] and had an overall 30% reject rate during bench tests. Just friendly advice.
