Pulsar Vacuformer?

Post by Paulbo »

Has anyone tried this Pulsar Vacuformer? http://www.pulsarprofx.com/UniVac/index.html

If so or if not, any thoughts about it? What the heck is the "cooking bag" technique?

Cooking bag... All I can think of is one of those turkey roasting bags put over the whole unit to increase downforce when vacc'ing complex reverse molds.

This technique is bass-ackward from normal vacuum forming; here you heat the plastic sheet after you put it over your buck and apply vacuum. The cooking bag is there to help prevent setting the whole mess on fire as you soften the plastic with a heat gun. Kind of a primitive vacuum-bagging operation but with heat.

The oven bag can take the heat of your heat gun, and allows you to vacuform small pieces. The oven bag covers all the excess table area and when you turn on the vacuum, it pulls down around your piece. As Joseph pointed out, "vacuum bagging".

Typically vacuformers pull only the area around your sized and preheated plastic sheet.
