I'm a modeler of 1:48 WW II fighters in need of help and this site was recommended to me. I have a plastic canopy that comes from the factory (Hasegawa) with a film on it that seems impervious to removal except with an abrasive liquid cleaner -- like Micro-gloss. The problem is that the abrasive cleaner -- even though it's not that strong -- tends to make scratches in the fragile plastic. I have tried many solvents to try to get this film to come off, but without success. (Goo-be-Gone; Windex; straight Amonium; Novis plastic cleaner; alcohol; Woolite, etc). Can anyone recommend a "miracle" non-abrasive cleaner? Also, what about ultra sound cleaners for glass products? Does anyone think that would work? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Check at your local auto parts store. Meguiar's makes a clear platic cleaner and polish that work really well. The come in small 8oz. bottles the polish is in a blue plastic bottle and the cleaner in a white bottle. I usually use a soft cloth to apply and a seperate cloth for removeal.
NOVUS brand plastic polishes and cleaners do a great job.
There are three levels;
The #1 I equit to armor all...
the #2 has a fine grit to polish out fine scrathes.
The #3 can help polish out heavy scratches.
working from 3 to 1 can take a scratched canopy from frosted to clear.

Is this a sprayed on film or like a protective sheet? If it is a sheet, what temp. are you working in? Some adhesives remove a bit to lots better
if you warm up the backside a bit...even with hand warmth.
