How to make pannel lines dark?

Post by TIE GUY »

Hi,

After looking through some of the past "threads" I have found that people some how make the pannel lines dark. How do I make that effect?

Hey there, hi there ho there!! Welcome to the boards!!
As for making panel lines darker if you're talking about lines that are engraved just use some very thin black paint and run it into the panel line.
I think that's how it's done.
Normal?? What is normal??

After a search I found that they use a wash, now what is a wash, how do you use it and what is the best kind to use as well as easy to use? Thank you.

Indeed, it's a wash, and there are many techniques discussed in the Finishing Forum.

A lzy way is to use a very fine point paint marker such as the Bandai Gundam range - use the grey or black. Run the pen down each pannel line then wipe away any excess using a cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

I've actually done that after the primary color, before weathering effects. Under the darkening effect, it works pretty well. For darker colors, though. It's too heavy if painting white or very light gray.
